Updated CLP Regulation for Hazardous Chemicals

The revised Classification, Labelling, and Packaging (CLP) regulation, effective 10-Dec-2024, introduces enhancements for identifying and classifying hazardous chemicals while improving hazard communication.

Key Updates:

Classification Rules: Updated criteria for mixtures and substances with multiple constituents.
Harmonised Classification: Emphasis on grouping substances under harmonised classifications, with clearer labelling rules, including the use of digital labels.
Proposal Requests: The European Commission can seek classification and labelling proposals from the European Chemicals Agency (ECA) and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
Refill Station Rules: New regulations for the sale of chemicals at refill stations.
Distributor Responsibilities: Distributors may now be classified as duty holders for poison center notifications.
New Hazard Classes: Introduced for the most critical hazards.
These changes aim to enhance safety, ensure transparency, and streamline compliance across the supply chain.
