“The Confederation of Indian Industry’s “”Golden Rules of Packaging for e-commerce and delivery platforms”” report highlights India’s e-commerce industry’s growth, particularly post-COVID-19, and its potential to reach USD 350 billion by 2030.
The report emphasizes the need for sustainable packaging practices to address environmental challenges, such as packaging waste.
The India Plastics Pact (IPP) aims to create a circular economy for plastic packaging by achieving four ambitious targets by 2030, including making all plastic packaging reusable or recyclable and increasing recycled content. E-commerce and delivery platforms are encouraged to reduce their packaging footprint by analyzing their portfolio, implementing reusable options, consolidating orders, designing for recyclability, maximizing recycled content, and communicating with customers.
The report also provides a step-by-step guide for e-commerce and food delivery platforms to make packaging more sustainable, such as adopting reuse models, reducing packaging through design and logistics, and promoting sustainable options with partners and consumers.”
