A new proposal aims to improve access to assessment reports from the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) by linking them to about 700 chemical records in the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals.

This change would help users find relevant information when a chemical has Specific Information Requirements (SIRs). Currently, only 10% of Inventory chemicals have a SIR term. NICNAS reports with a chemical’s CAS number or name would be linked to its Inventory record. If approved, these links will go live in mid-2025.
